Fundamentals of Reliability-Based Maintenance QLD September 2019 Register

Get 15% off your next EEA training course - exclusive benefit for Engineers Australia members for the month of June.

An Engineering Education Australia training course:

Across all sectors of engineering, including oil and gas, mining, utilities, defence and manufacturing, the design of systems and equipment is becoming more complex. This has resulted in the increased need for effective maintenance strategies to analyse and predict future reliability performance of infrastructure facilities and assets.

This two-day course will introduce you to fundamental reliability engineering concepts such as:

  • reliability-based maintenance,
  • condition monitoring,
  • Risk Based Inspection (RBI),
  • Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and
  • Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).

You’ll also learn the characteristics of functional failure and standardised maintenance strategies, how to identify and apply the most suitable maintenance strategies and much more.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to use basic maintenance and reliability principles to analyse and predict future reliability performance of operating assets, as well as developing appropriate maintenance strategies for practical application within the workplace.

Who should attend?

This course is for anyone involved in maintenance and reliability engineering tasks. It will be particularly useful for reliability, process and maintenance engineers as well as asset management professionals.

Full course outline

Day one - introduction to reliability-based maintenance concepts

  • Reliability, availability and maintainability fundamentals
  • Preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance concepts
  • Condition monitoring benefits and values
  • Risk-based inspection principles (RBI)
  • Standardised maintenance strategies and how they are applied
  • Maintenance strategy identification and development

Day two - understanding reliability-based maintenance fundamentals

  • Failure modes: effect causes and analysis
  • Reliability centred maintenance
  • Understanding of failure patterns
  • Determining potential failure intervals (P-F Intervals)
  • Reliability-based maintenance process and implementation
  • Reliability centred maintenance: The 7 basic questions

Build your Chartered competencies

This training course builds skills and knowledge in the following Engineers Australia Chartered status competencies*:

4. Develop safe and sustainable solutions
6. Identify, assess and manage risks
13. Local engineering knowledge
14. Problem analysis
16. Evaluation

Understand the Chartered (Stage 2) Competency Standards.

*Completing this course does not automatically guarantee a competency, it provides participants with the underpinning knowledge required to develop specific Chartered competencies.
