As we see unprecedented growth in the transport sector currently in NSW with infrastructure projects and a rapid emergence of new transport technologies, the transport education sector is key to enabling the future vision of transport.

This discussion will cover the current state of education, the pace of changes in the industry and how well we are equipped to tackle the challenges of an expanding and changing transport future including the introduction of smart systems.

Prof. David Levinson, Professor of Transport Engineering, the University of Sydney
Prof. David Levinson has been at the University of Sydney since 2017 where he leads the transport engineering division in the School of Civil Engineering.
Prior to this he served as a Professor in the department of Civil engineering at the University of Minnesota and director of the Networks, Economics and Urban Systems (NEXUS) research group.
In 2005 he was awarded the CUTC/ARTBA New Faculty Award. He attained his PhD in Transportation Engineering at the University of California, Berkley in 1998. He has also created his own transport blog called Transportist.
Dr Kasun Wijayaratna, Lecturer, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Technology
Dr. Kasun Wijayaratna is a lecturer in road, traffic and transport engineering at the University of Technology.
He is also the director of Mobility Thinking Group Pty. Ltd, a research consultancy firm specializing in novel traffic engineering and transport solutions and introducing cutting-edge transport research into practice.
He was a transport consultant at Cardno before completing his Ph.D at the University of New South Wales in 2016. He also is a visiting research fellow at the Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation at the University of New South Wales, Australia.
