The challenges of living up to your professional code of ethics - is it doable? Register

Dr Attracta Lagan is an organisational sociologist and one of Australia’s leading business ethicist.  She draws on the field of behaviour ethics and sociology in her professional practice and makes a clear distinction between morality and ethics.  She is passionate about the need to distinguish between leadership and ethical leadership and to challenge professionals to recognise the importance of organisational context and how it can circumvent professional codes.

Attracta advocates for business leaders to recognise their social accountabilities to protect the common good and to manage intentionally to safeguard the ethical dimensions embedded in daily business routines.

Currently she is working extensively in Asia with multinationals who are managing the organisational cultures that emerge in developing countries to ensure they play an active role in raising the ethical floor below the global marketplace.

She is the author and co-author of two management books and several white papers including the recent ICAA paper on the business case for ethics.

Attracta holds an Honours degree in Sociology, a Masters degree in Social Ecology and a Ph.D. which reviewed how the organisational context compromises personal values
