$510 million bypass underway in NSW Friday, 21 March 2014

Early work has commenced on the $510 million Princes Highway Foxground and Berry bypass in NSW, south of Toolijooa Road in Toolijooa, to prepare for major work on the 11.6km upgrade between the road and Schofields Lane in Berry. It is part of the NSW government’s $5.1 billion allocation towards building and maintaining critical road and maritime infrastructure that was announced in the 2013-2014 state budget. Member for Kiama Gareth Ward explained that the bypass is meant to improve safety and travel time for road users.

Fulton Hogan has been engaged to perform preparatory work at the northern end of the bypass; this includes site preparation, earthwork, site restoration and temporary landscaping. Ward said he expected the work to be completed by June, with the remainder of the bypass being built after the design and construct contract is awarded later this year. It is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
